After selling out flights during the popular Spicemas Carnival Season, the Grenada government negotiated with LIAT to add more dates. The regional airline will now fly its 68-seater aircraft into Maurice Bishop International on August 8, 9 and 10 from Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados.
Spicemas, one of the biggest events of the year in Grenada, beckons to members of the diaspora as well as the curious traveler. The main events take place on the second Monday and Tuesday of August, this year on the 13 and 14. The increased flights also offer better opportunities for visitors to combine the trip with the CropOver Festival in Barbados, finishing August 8.
As part of the agreement, LIAT will offer increased flights from the island to Barbados. The Grenada Tourism Authority and LIAT will encourage citizens to use the opportunity and will aggressively market the extra departures through various media platforms, including digital.
Grenada and LIAT reached the agreement after discussions between the Grenada Airlift Advisory Committee, the Grenada Tourism Authority and LIAT representatives. The negotiation continues the relationship between Airlift Advisory Committee and LIAT, dating back to 2016. In that time LIAT and the committee entered into a marketing partnership, maintained open communication and, in 2017, increased flights to the country.
