Ganja Growers Association Joins 4/20 Celebrations

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Ganja Growers and Producers Association Jamaica (GGPAJ) says it joins in noting and celebrating 4/20, a holiday started in California on the 20th April 1971 by a group of cannabis users and supporters.

According to the GGPAJ, today, 48 years later, 4/20 has become an International cannabis industry event widely supported by corporate interests and advocates for final legalisation and further scientific development of the plant.

The GGPAJ noted in its recent 5th Anniversary statement, its commitment to continue to work for legalisation as well and “to represent the best interests of the various stakeholders, giving primacy of place to the traditional ganja cultivator.”

The original theme of the GGPAJ remains ‘Economic Growth – Forging Partnerships towards Green Gold Prosperity for Jamaicans’. “We have developed a 10-point plan to achieve this and happily it will be discussed with our GOJ policymakers at MICAF this month,” the group said.

The Association said that there will be a press meeting next week to further explain the progress and opportunities in the industry for Jamaica.

The meeting will be leading up to the first Ganja Cultivators All Island Consultation on Wednesday, May 1 at The Golf View Hotel, Mandeville and the Second Jamaica Cannabiz Conference, to be held on the 23rd  to 25thMay,  at the University of the West Indies.
